The Chalet

La Couqueille is our spacious modern chalet located in Le Roitet, a quiet sunny area a short distance from the centre of Chatel. The Chalet offers spectacular views over the village and the Abondance valley and our only neighbours are a local farming family who produce the famous Abondance cheese.

The main focus of the chalet is the wonderfully spacious open plan living area with it's large picture windows which look out onto the fantastic view. Unlike a lot of chalets we have plenty of sofa space for all our guests and this is a great place to unwind after a good days skiing while watching the sun set over the village. After dark the lights of Chatel make the perfect backdrop to the evening meal served around our 14 seat dinner table.

A seperate corner area offers more seating around the open fireplace and this is where you can find the television with it's satelite and DVD player. This makes the perfect spot to relax with a book or for when some guests want to watch the TV without disturbing the rest of the group.

The living area also opens onto a south-facing terrace where you can take in the sun while watching the skiers wind their way down from Super-Chatel or enjoy a late season barbecue.

Accomodation.

The chalet sleeps up to 14 and offers a variety of accomodation ranging from en-suite doubles and twins to family rooms with bunk beds. Our two pricing structures allow total flexibility and great savings for larger groups.

Smaller groups can pay the 'per person' price and choose a room with en-suite or shared bathroom, while our 'whole chalet' price guarantees sole occupancy for your group and offers great savings for groups of 11 or more. Full details can be found on the prices page.

Accomodation is divided as follows:

Room 1:Lower ground floor, double with two bunks, en-suite shower and toilet, terrace.

Room 2:Ground floor, double/twin, en-suite shower and toilet, terrace.

Room 3:First floor, double, en-suite bath, balcony.

Room 4:First floor, double on mezzanine and two bunks, shares shower room with room 5.

Room 5:First floor, double/twin, balcony, shares shower room with room 4.

Facilities.

To keep you entertained we have a TV with satelite, video and DVD and a large selection of films and ski and snowboard videos. There is also a stereo with a variety of CD's for your use and a big box of board games for all ages.

Tea and coffee facilities are available throughout the day and we operate an 'Honesty Bar' system with a selection of Belgian beers, wine and soft drinks.

To save you space in your luggage all rooms are supplied with towels, bathrobes, slippers and toileteries. We have two cots, high chairs and a set of baby alarms available to guests with infants.

There is also a ski and boot store and laundry facilities should you need them.

Getting about.

The chalet is at the end of a quiet road and is a pleasant 15 minute walk from the centre of Chatel. During the daytime free shuttle buses stop right outside. For those who choose to bring their car we have ample parking for up to six cars.

Mini-Bus Service.

Alpine Chalet Holidays also offer an in-resort mini-bus service to get you about. We will drop you off at the ski lifts in the morning, pick you up in the afternoon and will be happy to run you to the village for some shopping or for a night out. For those who aren't skiing we can also arrange excursions to local attractions such as Lavey-les-Bains, Switzerland's warmest and best thermal spa!
