Getting to Chatel

Portes du Soleil Location

By Car:

Brussels: 800km, 9 hours.
Amsterdam: 1000km, 10 hours.
London: 940km, 10 hours.

Driving to Chatel is easy. You can drive through Switzerland via Lausanne, Montreux and Monthey, before arriving via the Pas de Morgins.

Alternatively take the A40 through France via Geneva and exit at Annemasse. From here you follow the lake shore to Thonon before taking the valley road up to Chatel via Abondance.

We have ample parking for several cars outside the chalet or alternatively there is a covered car park in the village.

Please remember you will be arriving in the Alps in winter so make sure you are equipped for the weather and bring your snowchains!

See below for details on how to find us once you arrive.

By Air:

Geneva airport: 90 mins.

Why not take the hassle out of your holiday and fly? Geneva airport is just 90minutes away and is well served by 'no frills' airlines such as Easyjet. If you book well in advance it can work out cheaper than driving.

We can arrange airport transfers for you and once you have arrived in chatel our mini-bus service will take you wherever you need to go. No need to worry about parking, digging your car out of a snow-drift or fitting snow chains! Just book your flights and we will arrange the rest.

By Train:

Thonon les Bains (France): 45 mins.
Aigle (Switzerland): 45 mins.

An even more relaxing way to travel can be by train. TGV services terminate in Thonon les Bains from where it's a 45 minute drive up to Chatel. An alternative is to travel to Geneva and change trains for the short onward journey to Aigle, also a 45 minute drive from Chatel. We can also arrange transfers from these train stations and of course, once in Chatel, our mini-bus service will be available to get you about.
